5. Replacement or repair for failures after the warranty period is offered under the Verizon Extended Warranty. Repairs are available at select locations, subject to parts and technician availability. Your eligibility for repairs will be determined when you claim the extended warranty. Asurion is a company that partners with three of the major US carriers: Verizon, AT&T and Sprint as their officially approved phone insurance provider. Asurion covers loss, theft, accidental damage and defects – the main things people typically make claims for. Once the insurance claim is approved, you will be told whether Asurion decides to repair or replace the device – and you have no control over that. If it’s the latter, they’ll ship it to you overnight. A phone charger, battery and a SIM card are included. It can be new, but also renovated. They don’t feel obligated to openly inform you which one you are receiving, but if it is a refurbished phone it should say “Refurbished by Asurion” on the back of the phone.
Right from the start, it’s easy to see that cell phone insurance is a scam. The people who work in the carrier stores do not know the details of how Asurion works as an insurance company and are mainly motivated by the commission they receive from adding subscribers. They’re not really sure if the insurance is worth it, but they know they gain financially by telling you it’s a must-have.
. Most people seem to think that if they “break” their phone, insurance is there to replace it with a brand new one. To some, a “broken phone” is really just a cracked screen that could have been replaced at a repair shop for about $100, but instead they send it to Asurion and get their phone (which had a perfectly functioning motherboard and never had a device had seen) water drop) replaced with a “Refurbished by Asurion” phone whose motherboard was unfortunately repaired after liquid damage by a half-price technician contracted by the company to mass repair boards collected from other phones that were sent to the company by customers who aren’t really looking to understand what their phone is worth.
To make a point, a customer could bring a phone into Wires Computing and have us put their motherboard in another frame that is in good condition, with a new charging port, battery and LCD screen, and there would probably be be charged less than $200 depending on iPhone model. Alternatively, someone could send in their phone that simply has a cracked LCD screen and be charged between $150 and $200, depending on the deductible, to have it replaced with a refurbished phone with an older, previously repaired motherboard. The motherboard in the original phone was immaculate and should have been the most prized part of the phone – and now it’s owned by Asurion.
How To Cancel Verizon Mobile Protection
These ‘insurance phones’ are reassembled with spare parts by glorified assembly line workers. We’ve seen Asurion phones come into the store stuck together behind the LCD screen, with the screws missing or loose inside the phone. In contrast to the workshop setting, these people do not know the customers who receive the telephones and therefore invest much less in good and thorough work. The lifespan of these phones has been seriously compromised – and to make matters even more difficult, all circuit boards soldered during the refurbishment process no longer have the original traces of corrosion, making it much more difficult for even a highly experienced micro-soldering repair technician to restore a compromised motherboard to full functionality.
Most replacement phones contain fewer than new parts that fail prematurely and are simply not of the same quality as parts a local technician would use. We often see our customers enter the store with something broken on the Asurion replacement phone and after opening it we notice many problems. Some are even 2-3 year old batteries that have half the life of the original phone. When you add up all the hassle of replacing the phones, it’s a no-brainer how long they last. This is often the first time the customer is aware of this, leaving them wishing they had just had the phone repaired properly at our local repair shop instead of having to deal with a phone mess from a big company that ultimately only cares about the profits instead of quality phones and parts.

Not only do repair shops pay more attention to every phone and customer that walks through the door, but they also have well-trained staff who do a better job primarily with the goal of preserving the life of the phone.
