The goal of the SNSA Coaches Clinic is to help eliminate that by providing the information a coach needs to teach the game at this most basic level. The course focuses on training and appropriate management of young players. At this early stage of coach and player development, the focus is on teaching basic technical skills including ball control, passing/receiving, 1v1 defense and shooting.

Eight New Grassroots Undergraduate Courses in US Coaching Will Focus on Fundamentals Related to Soccer Player Development Initiatives

CHICAGO (December 20, 2017) -U.S. Football has announced the launch of eight (8) new entry-level coaching courses in early 2018. These courses will focus on empowering coaches through experiential learning and a player-centered approach. Course options will be directly related to minor leagues and the respective age groups identified in the Player Development Initiative.

The new undergraduate courses will consist of four (4) in-person experiences and four (4) online experiences. ME. Prospective coaches will have the option of starting one of these new courses – in any order – after completing a free introductory module offered by Soccer.

“This new, a-la-carte approach is about empowering grassroots coaches to access immediate training – tailored to their needs and specific coaching environments – through these new low-barrier opportunities,” said Frank Tchan, Director of Coaching Management.

Once coaches have completed the basic coach training modules, they are qualified to take the advanced undergraduate courses required to coach at competitive club level and advanced levels. The USSF D License course is the minimum requirement for competitive club coaches (U11-U19). The D Course is a 40-hour course scheduled over two weekends and offered locally by the Nevada Youth Soccer Association. USSF C, B and A courses are offered locally by US Soccer. Coaches who have played soccer at the professional or collegiate level may waive course prerequisites at the discretion of the USSF.
