M28 and L2 are special types of fire extinguishers designed to withstand Class D fires, with combustible materials in the form of powder or chips. These contain lithium, sodium, aluminum or magnesium.
Example: This fire extinguisher has a low speed to ensure that L2 or M28 powder is applied slowly and carefully to the burning material to avoid excessive spread.
When this type of fire extinguisher is first activated, it forms a layer of insulation and protects the metal from penetrating and other combustible materials and cools the fire by preventing oxygen from reacting with the metal.

L2 is suitable for all types of metal fires, but M28 fires cannot be used for lithium. (Easy trick to remember: that L2 has L – “L” stands for Lithium.)
CAUTION: Never use this on a fire, especially an electrical fire, and remember that water should not come into contact with flammable materials.
Proper training is required to use the M28 and L2 extinguishers as the method of use is completely different compared to other extinguishers.
Foam extinguishers can be identified by seeing the word “foam” written on top of the cream rectangle in their body.
Understanding The Fire Extinguisher Types By Colors
It is mainly a water-based foam that has a flame-retardant effect on the floor as well as a covering effect. It cools the fire and seals the gas, preventing it from burning again.
When this is used against a class A fire, the user can only point at it and throw it, if it is used for a class B fire it must not be thrown into the fire water. This can cause the fire to spread. It is recommended to spray the foam around where it can collect and flow over it.
NOTE: Foam extinguishers should not be used on sawdust/grease fires. It should also not be used for electrical purposes, but accidental spills are less harmful than water.

An electrical fire and a type B fire can extinguish carbon dioxide; they burn by displacing oxygen from the air. As they leave nothing behind like other types of fire extinguishers, they are actually used in workshops/offices/where there is a possibility of an electrical fire which can reduce the damage to the equipment.
NOTE: CO2 extinguishers should not be used on fires F. A strong jet from the extinguisher will throw burning grease onto the fryer and cause the fire to spread to the surrounding area. Remember that carbon dioxide has already ignited a fire, and if the gas flows away, the fire can reignite if there is no source of fire.

They produce very fine, light sprays such as L2 and M28 extinguishing powders to prevent burning oil/grease from spilling onto the user or spreading around.
The best way to do this is to rotate it slowly. The individual must remove all objects from burning oil or grease or the fire will reignite.

NOTE: This type is not suitable for Class B fires (containing water) and can fight Class A fires, but is not as effective as other extinguishers.
