Each carrier offers three types of plans to choose from: an entry-level plan, a mid-level plan, and a top-tier plan.
Verizon’s New Wireless Plans Get Mixed Reviews
Let’s start with the entry-level plan. This is the cheapest and probably what most people plan to consider.
At AT&T, get the AT&T Unlimited Prepaid plan for just $50 per month and save $180 per year.
If you choose a prepaid plan, we typically recommend financing through Affirm. While this may work for some people, device trade-in deals and financing options from major carriers are still often the best.
You also can’t get a cell phone loan if you use T-Mobile Prepaid, Visible, or AT&T Prepaid directly. So if you want device financing options, you’ll want to choose a basic postpaid plan from T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T.
Verizon Welcome Unlimited: New Entry Level $30 5g Plan
The 4-line family plan is much more reasonable, lowering the cost per line to $30-$35 per month.
Combining these family discounts with device finance offers shows how attractive these plans could be for some people.
The rest of the plans’ features are basically the same. All plans include unlimited non-priority data, 480p video streaming, and the same cost for portable devices.
If I had to choose, I would choose T-Mobile’s plan as my best choice here. But that’s because it’s the cheapest. As mentioned earlier, these plans are not really recommended because you can get the exact service for less money.
Verizon Prepaid Unlimited Data Hotspot Jetpack Plan (pudp)
Even with family discounts, you may be able to find a cheaper plan. For example, Metro by T-Mobile offers an unlimited plan for $30 per line for four lines, Visible drops the price to $25 per line for four lines, and Cricket Wireless offers an unlimited plan for $33 per line for four lines. If you really don’t want to finance the cost of the device, I think it’s better to save on your monthly cell phone bill by choosing one of the alternative options.
Mid-tier plans increase the price but offer more features and a better experience than the entry-level plan. The three mid-tier plans are T-Mobile Magenta, Verizon Play More Unlimited, and AT&T Unlimited Extra.
T-Mobile’s plan is still the cheapest option here. It’s only $70 per month compared to AT&T’s $75 and Verizon’s $80. This price includes all autopay discounts.
Verizon’s New ‘my Plan’ Might Cost You More
I think the T-Mobile plan is the best here. It’s the cheapest and 100GB of priority data is huge for the average consumer.
Most people find priority data more important than additional hotspot data because they use a lot of data directly on their smartphones rather than hotspot data. 5GB of hotspot data is still more than enough for the average consumer.
Second, I’ll choose Verizon’s Play More plan. We like the extra 15GB of hotspot data and 720p video streaming here.
I’m also a huge fan of the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundles. It may be the most expensive plan in this category, but we think it offers good value and an overall experience.

When it comes to family plans, T-Mobile’s plan is still the best choice. Pricing is the same as AT&T, $40 for four lines, but T-Mobile also includes all taxes and fees. This makes T-Mobile the cheapest, saving you $240 to $480 over other plans.
And honestly, you can get AT&T Unlimited Extra for the $20/month price difference between AT&T and Verizon.
You can still save money with the Disney+ package. So, if you’re a Verizon family member, I’d choose AT&T.
Now we have the top plan. Here are the best plans offered by each carrier: They offer the most features and are the most expensive.
