Consumers Complaint About Assurant Insurance
Assurant explained the reason for the closure in a statement to , saying in part: “As part of our broader strategy to drive operational improvement and efficiency, as well as support emerging customer needs, we have decided to consolidate from three machine maintenance services company. locations in two locations, as well as to find services close to our customers’ major stations. As a result, we will be closing our machine maintenance center in York.”
“It’s always unfortunate when we get news like this,” said Kevin Schreiber, president of the York County Business Coalition.
Schreiber said although this is a difficult time for families, there are plenty of jobs in the area.
“Our hope is that through our efforts, through other organizations and support services in the area, in coordination with Assurant itself, we will be able to work with the people involved,” he said. “We hope this is a little inconvenience for them and we can get them back into full service.”

Assurant praised the hard work of its staff, saying: “We are very proud of the dedication shown by our York staff who have served our customers for the past 24 years and we thank them for their years of work.”
Assurant said it is offering severance packages to affected employees, saying some will still be able to apply for other jobs within the company.
The first round of layoffs is expected in early January. Assurant’s two facilities in York County will be closed by the end of March.
